SUBMISSIONS

The Slovak Film Festival Los Angeles welcomes submissions from Slovak filmmakers and productions that showcase the creativity, talent, and diversity of Slovak cinema.

The inaugural edition of the festival will take place on September 1, 2026,
in Los Angeles, California.

ELIGIBILITY

Submissions are open to:

  • Feature Films

  • Short Films

  • Documentary Films

  • Animated Films

  • Student Films

Films must have a meaningful connection to Slovakia. Eligible projects include films produced in Slovakia, works created by Slovak filmmakers living in Slovakia or abroad, and productions featuring Slovak cast or crew members whose contributions played a significant role in the project.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Film submissions are now OPEN and accepted through FilmFreeway.

Regular Deadline: August 5, 2026

Late Deadline: August 25, 2026

Official Selections will be announced on August 28, 2026.

Selected films will be notified directly by the festival team and announced through our official website and social media channels.

SELECTION PROCESS

Submitted films will be reviewed by the festival programming team

and evaluated by an independent jury composed of respected film industry professionals.

The official jury for the inaugural Slovak Film Festival Los Angeles will be announced in July 2026.

The jury will select award recipients based on artistic achievement, storytelling, originality, technical excellence, and overall impact.

AWARDS

Awards may be presented in the following categories:

  • Best Feature Film

  • Best Short Film

  • Best Documentary Film

  • Best Animated Film

  • Best Student Film

  • Audience Choice Award

Additional categories may be introduced in future editions of the festival.
