SUBMISSIONS
Following a successful inaugural edition on September 1, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, the Slovak Film Festival Los Angeles is preparing for its second edition in 2027.
Submissions for the 2027 festival will open on September 13, 2026.
ELIGIBILITY
Submissions are open to:
Feature Films
Short Films
Documentary Films
Animated Films
Student Films
Films must have a meaningful connection to Slovakia. Eligible projects include films produced in Slovakia, works created by Slovak filmmakers living in Slovakia or abroad, and productions featuring Slovak cast or crew members whose contributions played a significant role in the project.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
Submissions for the 2027 festival will open on September 13, 2026.
Early Bird Deadline: December 31, 2026
Regular Deadline: March 31, 2027
Late Deadline: May 31, 2027
Final Deadline: June 30, 2027
Notification Date: August 1, 2027
Selected films will be notified directly by the festival team and announced through our official website and social media channels.
SELECTION PROCESS
Submitted films will be reviewed by the festival programming team
and evaluated by an independent jury composed of respected film industry professionals.
The official jury for the inaugural Slovak Film Festival Los Angeles will be announced in July 2026.
The jury will select award recipients based on artistic achievement, storytelling, originality, technical excellence, and overall impact.

Best Feature Film
Best Short Film
Best Documentary Film
Best Animated Film
Best Student Film
Additional categories may be introduced in future editions of the festival.
